Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering

About the role

The Executive Dean will lead QUT’s Faculty of Engineering, shaping its strategic direction, academic excellence and industry impact. This senior leadership role reports to the university’s Executive Leadership Team and is based at the Gardens Point campus.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic, academic and operational leadership for the Faculty of Engineering.
• Develop and execute a five‑year plan that enhances research, teaching and industry collaboration.
• Oversee talent management, culture development and performance across academic and professional staff.
• Strengthen partnerships with industry leaders such as BMW, Boeing, Stryker and Shell.
• Represent the Faculty in external stakeholder relations and senior university governance.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in an engineering‑related discipline.
• Internationally recognised record of research, scholarship or senior management.
• Proven senior strategic leadership experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated success in talent management, culture shaping and industry engagement.
