Estimator - Mining Infrastructure

About the role

UON, an integrated energy company in Western Australia, is looking for an experienced Estimator to join its team in Malaga, Perth. The role suits someone with 7+ years' experience who can develop estimates for complex, multidisciplinary projects in the mining and infrastructure sectors. Candidates with an electrical estimating background are particularly sought after; civil estimating experience should not apply.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and price tenders, including quantity take-offs, first-principles rates, provisional sums and contingency, and the final tender price.
• Ensure EOI and tender submissions meet client requirements.
• Source, compare and level subcontractor and supplier quotations to a consistent scope basis.
• Assist procurement and purchasing as directed by the Bid Manager.
• Manage client queries and clarifications, and distribute responses and tender amendments.
• Support bid governance: launch meetings, mid-term and final tender reviews, post-submittal clarifications and tender program input.
• Maintain risk and opportunity compliance under company terms and conditions.
• Track estimate accuracy after award through site visits and feedback with the projects division, then hand over to the project team.
• Maintain cost and profitability records, including the unit cost database and job profitability analysis.
• Handle general administration such as archiving bids, reporting and flagging client relationship issues.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience, preferably in mining infrastructure, power generation or dewatering projects.
• Demonstrable experience in dewatering projects and an electrical background.
• Ability to understand technical scopes, interrogate project requirements and build robust estimates across equipment, electrical, mechanical, piping and supporting infrastructure packages.
• Unrestricted right to work in Australia.
