Equipment Performance Engineer

About the role

COLAS Australia is looking for an Equipment Performance Engineer to join its Bibra Lake team. Reporting to the State Equipment Manager, you will analyse performance, utilisation, maintenance and lifecycle of mobile plant and asphalt production assets, driving data‑based improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead rollout of a new Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system for mobile and asphalt plant operations.
• Develop and automate KPI reporting for workshops and plants.
• Monitor and analyse equipment performance, utilisation, reliability and efficiency, providing regular reports to operational leaders.
• Identify opportunities for asset replacement, refurbishment or disposal based on age, cost and utilisation data.
• Support the Equipment Manager with workshop OPEX monitoring and CAPEX proposal preparation.
• Track maintenance costs, suggest productivity improvements and lifecycle cost reductions.
• Conduct equipment and plant audits across remote sites.
• Manage business improvement and technology projects such as safety systems, asset tracking and fleet management initiatives.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining 6S standards and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements, including LOTO procedures.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2+ years experience with heavy mobile equipment in construction, mining, asphalt, quarrying or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of asset management principles, maintenance strategies and equipment lifecycle planning.
• Experience implementing or improving EAM/CMMS solutions.
• Ability to travel to remote and interstate locations as required.
• Advanced analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret large data sets.
