Environmental Services Assistant

About the role

Portland District Health is recruiting an Environmental Services Assistant for its Environmental Services unit. The role ensures a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, in line with Victorian Healthcare Cleaning Standards and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. It is an ongoing part-time position of 48 hours per fortnight, with day shifts from 6:30am to 3:00pm.

Key responsibilities

• Clean the facility effectively and efficiently, including public, staff, inpatient and clinical areas
• Operate the waste disposal and recycling systems
• Work flexibly, including some weekends and occasional public holidays

Required profile

• Appropriate level of physical fitness to carry out the duties
• Ability to follow established routines, methods and procedures
• Ability to work under routine supervision, alone or in a team
• Previous experience in a healthcare or aged care environment is desirable
• Police record check or NDIS worker screening check and current immunisation status, in line with the Portland District Health immunisation policy

Required skills

• Competency in cleaning windows, hard and soft floors
• Use of a wide range of commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals
