Environmental Planning and Compliance Manager

About the role

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an experienced Environmental Planning and Compliance Manager to lead environmental approvals, compliance and strategy across its operations in Western and South Australia. The role supports operational teams to meet environmental obligations and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and manage documentation for works approvals, planning approvals and clearing permits.
• Provide expert advice on environmental and planning compliance across WA and SA operations.
• Develop and deliver environmental spatial mapping documents and shapefiles.
• Interpret and communicate regulatory changes to internal stakeholders.
• Support project teams with environmental risk assessments, site planning and policy navigation.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulators, traditional owners, community groups and industry bodies.
• Lead and mentor junior team members and develop internal environmental capability.

Required profile

• A degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in environmental planning, compliance or consultancy.
• Proven ability to navigate environmental regulations in WA and support SA as needed.
• Strong background in development approvals, clearing permits and environmental risk management.
• Understanding of environmental threats such as dieback, weeds and site contamination.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QGIS and working with spatial data and shapefiles.
