Environmental Approvals Specialist

About the role

Alchemy Recruitment is seeking an experienced Environmental Approvals Specialist for a global mining company on an initial 6-month contract in Brisbane CBD, with potential to extend. The role supports environmental approvals for a major resources project and suits someone who can step in quickly and provide hands-on support. Hours are 32 to 40 per week depending on workload.

Key responsibilities

• Support environmental approvals and permitting activities for the project
• Review and prepare environmental approvals documentation and reports
• Interpret and apply relevant Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation
• Support regulatory compliance and the management of approval conditions
• Maintain approvals registers, commitments and associated documentation
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, technical specialists, consultants and regulators
• Review technical environmental information and translate findings into approvals requirements

Required profile

• Previous experience in environmental approvals within mining, resources or a similar regulated industry
• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Groundwater experience or knowledge is highly regarded

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Queensland environmental legislation and approvals frameworks
• Experience preparing, reviewing and managing environmental reports and regulatory documentation
• Experience working with regulators, consultants and technical specialists
