Environment Risk and Compliance Advisor

About the role

Babcock is looking for an experienced Environmental Risk and Compliance Advisor to join its team in Abbotsford, Victoria, reporting to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager. The role sits within the HSE, Quality and Sustainability team and supports environmental compliance, risk management and sustainability across a diverse portfolio of projects and operations. It involves partnering with HSE Business Partners, operational leaders and project teams to give expert environmental advice and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support environmental risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and management system activities
• Help ensure compliance with regulatory, customer and organisational requirements
• Contribute to the delivery of sustainability and environmental performance objectives
• Build relationships with stakeholders and embed environmental best practice and responsible stewardship

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with a Defence security clearance, or the ability to obtain one
• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Sustainability
• Previous experience in a similar environmental position, preferably in Defence or another high-risk industry
• Experience in trade-based contractor management, including coaching, mentoring and skills development
• Demonstrated experience applying relevant environmental management legislation
