Enrolled Nurse - Aged Care

About the role

Southern Cross Care is hiring an Enrolled Nurse in Goolwa, South Australia, on a permanent part-time basis. The nurse supports, guides and supervises Personal Carers so that they can deliver a holistic, person-centred service aligned with the "Better for Life" framework. Working with a Registered Nurse, the Enrolled Nurse assesses resident needs, applies clinical judgement within their scope of practice and keeps care plans safe, effective and up to date.

The schedule is split across two weeks: Week 1 covers Tuesday, Wednesday and Monday (2.50pm to 10.56pm) and Wednesday and Friday (7.00am to 3.06pm); Week 2 covers Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (7.00am to 3.06pm) and Monday (2.50pm to 10.56pm).

Key responsibilities

• Promote resident independence, social engagement and meaningful activities while following infection control protocols
• Deliver clinical care, update progress notes, administer medications safely and work with Allied Health and Lifestyle staff
• Mentor Personal Carers, help Registered Nurses organise workloads, monitor resource use and contribute to quality improvement

Required profile

• Diploma of Nursing with current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
• Previous experience as an Enrolled Nurse in an aged care setting
• Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates
• Ability to communicate clearly with older people and write clear progress notes
• Good time management and willingness to support other staff
• Understanding of dementia care, including residents with challenging behaviour
• Knowledge of Aged Care Standards related to accreditation
