Engineering Manager - iOS

About the role

The company is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead its iOS engineering team and help deliver its product roadmap. The role sits within the product development team and reports to the CTO, working closely with the engineering team, executives and other departments. It is a full-time, on-site position in either the Hobart or Sydney office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate and align engineering functions.
• Work closely with design to plan and organise feature development, improving sustainability and efficiency.
• Deliver feedback and take part in reviews and performance management.
• Hands-on engineering makes up 40-60% of the role; the manager enjoys coding and keeps their skills sharp.
• In the first 6-12 months: complete the onboarding process, understand product development practices and frameworks, build relationships with stakeholders and team leaders, and prepare and support the execution of core features.

Required profile

• Experience as an Engineering Manager in a technology, product or creative company.
• Senior-level engineering experience and/or people management experience in a tech or start-up environment.
• Organised, methodical and detail-oriented approach.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical colleagues and to build consensus and motivation across diverse teams.

Required skills

• Experience with Swift and iOS.
• Good technical judgement and a track record of technically grounded decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: experience with other languages such as Haskell, C or Rust.
