Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a motivated Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer to join its Civil Infrastructure, Geotechnical Engineering and Tunnelling team in South‑East Queensland. The role balances hands‑on field investigations with technical office work, supporting projects from investigation through design and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and undertake geotechnical site investigations, including drilling supervision, sampling and in‑situ testing.
• Prepare factual and interpretive reports, conduct desktop studies and assist with tender submissions and cost estimates.
• Support geotechnical analyses for foundations, slope stability, pavement designs, earthworks and other geo‑structures.

Required profile

• 2‑10 years’ experience in engineering geology or geotechnical engineering, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Relevant tertiary degree (Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or related) and professional registration or eligibility (RPGeo, CPEng, RPEQ).
• Willingness to undertake regular fieldwork and travel, and a current Class C driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as OpenGround/gINT.
• Experience using 2D/3D modelling tools like Rocscience, GeoStudio, PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, Leapfrog and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics, slope stability and site investigation practices.
