Engineer, Water Planning

About the role

Join Aurecon’s Water Practice in Sydney as an Engineer focused on Water and Wastewater Planning. You will work within a high‑performing team to develop innovative water servicing strategies for a range of public and private sector clients across the ANZ region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver integrated water servicing strategies and plans for new development precincts and existing infill areas.
• Provide water and wastewater system planning solutions that address growth servicing, asset renewal, reliability, resilience, sustainability and liveability.
• Assess whole‑of‑lifecycle costs, risks and benefits in system plans.
• Maintain and develop relationships with clients and internal/external stakeholders, fostering collaborative teamwork.
• Lead project management activities and contribute to technical excellence within the team.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities, engaging with clients and assisting pursuit efforts.
• Mentor junior team members, helping them build networks and system‑planning capabilities.

Required profile

• Engineer with a specialisation or strong interest in water and wastewater planning.
• Experience delivering water strategy and system planning projects in the ANZ region.
• Proactive, confident project management skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to build and sustain client relationships and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to support junior colleagues and contribute to business development activities.
