Emergency Medicine - Staff Specialist

About the role

This position is based in a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, serving a population of over 180,000. The hospital offers a fully accredited Paediatric Emergency Department, an active ultrasound programme and simulation training, providing a dynamic environment for a senior emergency physician.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency care to adults, children and adolescents.
• Lead and mentor junior doctors and multidisciplinary team members.
• Participate in teaching activities, simulation sessions and ultrasound training.
• Contribute to the development of geriatric and toxicology services.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with clinical governance standards.

Required profile

• Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist Registration.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to optimal patient outcomes.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary emergency department.

Required skills

• Ultrasound proficiency.
