Electrical Switchboard Builder

About the role

RIC Electrics, a locally owned and operated Wagga Wagga business founded in 1979, provides turn-key electrical, switchboard, PLC, fire, communication and security services to the eastern seaboard, mainly regional NSW. The Electrical Switchboard Builder works in the Switchboard Division at the Wagga workshop, manufacturing, assembling and cabling switchboards for clients. The role suits people with mechanical and/or fabrication skills who are willing to learn how to wire and cable electrical circuits.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble switchboard cubicles
• Mount and install equipment in switchboard panels
• Install and wire meters, indicators and switches
• Run power and control cabling to equipment
• Fabricate and install busbars
• Fabricate and manufacture metal brackets and panels
• Test switchboards electrically after completion
• Work with little or no supervision, sometimes on small projects as part of a team
• Communicate with RIC staff and contractors
• Maintain a high level of safety and comply with WHS policies and SWMS

Required profile

• Qualified electrician
• 3rd or 4th year electrical apprentice
• Experienced switchboard builder
• Practical, enthusiastic and reliable, punctual

Required skills

• Willingness to learn wiring and cabling
• Preferred: understanding of electrical schematics, single line diagrams and GA plans
