Education Assistant – EAL/D for French Program

About the role

Harrisdale Senior High School is seeking an enthusiastic Education Assistant to support its French language program by providing assistance to students for whom English is an additional language or dialect (EAL/D). The role is permanent, full‑time and based on‑site at the school in Harrisdale, Perth.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the French teachers in delivering planned lessons, including the use of computers and other classroom technologies.
• Support individual students or small groups during class activities under teacher direction.
• Prepare, maintain and safely store classroom resources, equipment and learning materials.
• Supervise students during out‑of‑class activities, excursions and other school events.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Reliability, initiative and willingness to adapt tasks to meet diverse learning needs.
• Experience in a mainstream school setting or a willingness to learn and follow direction.
• Commitment to reflective practice and openness to feedback for professional growth.
