Early Childhood Cook

About the role

Honour Early Learning offers an onsite full-time catering service at its centre in Munruben, Queensland, and is looking for a Cook. The Cook prepares and delivers nutritious meals and snacks to children according to seasonal menus and dietary requirements, working closely with the Centre Manager and under the guidance of the Catering Manager. The role keeps the kitchen aligned with food safety standards, child nutrition best practice and company policy.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals and snacks according to the centre's rotating seasonal menu and individual dietary requirements.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety, following HACCP and centre-specific food safety plans.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised and well-stocked, store food correctly and maintain equipment.
• Tailor meals for children with allergies, intolerances and cultural or religious dietary needs, and follow daily dietary requirement lists.
• Complete food safety records, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules and dietary logs.
• Work with the Centre Manager, Educators and Catering Manager so meal service matches programming and daily schedules.
• Seek and act on feedback from children, families and staff to improve menus.
• Assist with food preparation for centre events and celebrations when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year's experience in an early childhood setting, or 3 years in a similar industry.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (highly desirable).
• Experience in a similar role, preferably in childcare or aged care.
• Understanding of nutrition and dietary needs of children aged 0-5 years.
• Organised, adaptable and proactive, with a genuine passion for food and child nutrition.

Required skills

• Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate
• Active and valid Blue Card
• First Aid and CPR certification
