Duty Manager (Couple) - Remote Outback Store

About the role

Randstad is recruiting retail couples to work in a remote store in the Northern Territory, in partnership with ALPA (Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation). Reporting to the Store Manager, the Duty Manager supports daily operations so that community needs for nutrition, safety and essential goods are met. The role follows a fortnightly roster including weekends and evenings, and offers a 6-12 month development pathway into a Store Management position.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in day-to-day operations and follow a fortnightly roster including weekends and evenings
• Handle physical tasks such as unloading pallets, restocking shelves and manual handling
• Manage store closing procedures and reconcile end-of-day cash
• Coach and train local store staff to encourage routine and meaningful employment
• Support café or takeaway operations while maintaining strict food safety standards
• Take part in stocktakes, safety audits and compliance checks

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in retail or a similar fast-paced environment
• Resilient leader with a hands-on approach and deep respect for cultural diversity
• Ability to thrive in remote or regional settings
• Proven ability to manage a diverse team and drive positive community outcomes

Required skills

• Electronic retail systems for point of sale, stock control and staff management
• Food safety standards
