Disability Support Specialist - Day Program & SIL Houses

About the role

Lumia Care Sydney is looking for experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join its team in the Campbelltown and Blacktown area. As a Support Worker you will provide high-quality, individualised support across SIL (Supported Independent Living) homes, day programs and community settings, matched to clients based on your experience, skills and care compatibility. Clients have complex needs including intellectual disabilities, psychosocial conditions such as CPTSD, borderline personality disorder and FND, mental health challenges and physical conditions such as asthma.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-level personal care with dignity and respect
• Perform manual handling tasks, including transfers and mobility support
• Support clients with community access such as appointments, social activities and shopping
• Provide behavioural, emotional and social support
• Assist with domestic tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation
• Promote independence, safety and overall wellbeing

Required profile

• Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Mental Health or equivalent (essential)
• Proven experience supporting individuals with complex psychosocial and physical needs
• Experience with behavior support, manual handling and personal care (essential)
• A calm, empathetic and reliable approach
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
• Current First Aid Certificate, Police Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check
• Full Australian work rights and a valid driver's licence with a reliable vehicle
