Director (SO) Cyber and Information Security

About the role

The Queensland Fire Department is seeking a senior leader to head its Cyber and Information Security branch. Reporting to the Executive Director, Information and Technology, you will shape the agency’s security posture, ensuring resilience across all digital services while supporting the department’s multi‑hazard emergency mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for the Cyber and Information Security branch, including HR, finance, budgeting, planning and program management.
• Develop and maintain a fit‑for‑purpose information security strategy aligned with industry standards and frameworks.
• Drive strategic change, influence senior stakeholders and manage the agency’s security roadmap.
• Oversee risk management, cyber‑security operations, information availability, privacy and infrastructure security.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in risk management, information security or ICT security, preferably in cloud‑native environments.
• At least 4 years managing information security in a mid‑size to large IT environment.
• 2+ years leading planning and program delivery for security initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to work with specialist partners and senior executives.
