Director, Private Business Tax

About the role

PwC is seeking a Director to lead its Private Business Tax team, providing tax planning, compliance and advisory services to high‑net‑worth individuals and privately‑owned businesses across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client engagements, building trusted relationships with private business owners and stakeholders.
• Lead tax compliance, planning and advisory for complex entities including trusts, companies, partnerships and individuals.
• Oversee tax return preparation and review, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Advise on tax‑efficient strategies such as succession planning, M&A, and restructurings.
• Support clients during ATO reviews or audits and identify tax risks with mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Australian business and private client tax across multiple industries.
• Proven ability to manage and grow relationships with private business owners, family groups and key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated expertise in corporate tax compliance, consolidation, restructuring, and M&A transactions.
• Strong commercial mindset with a track record of delivering high‑quality, practical solutions.

Required skills

• Tax compliance and advisory for trusts, companies, partnerships and individuals.
• Experience with ATO engagements, audits and tax risk mitigation.
• Knowledge of succession planning, mergers & acquisitions and corporate restructurings.
