Director People Partners

About the role

The Director People Partners role sits at the heart of decision‑making for the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. Working closely with senior leaders, you will shape workforce strategy, drive organisational change and ensure people initiatives are aligned with the outcomes expected by NSW communities.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute workforce strategy in complex, high‑impact environments.
• Lead and grow a high‑performing People Partnering team, building capability and credibility.
• Strengthen a proactive, insight‑led partnering approach across the organisation.
• Use data and evidence to guide decisions, challenge assumptions and identify emerging risks and opportunities.
• Lead complex organisational change initiatives across diverse business units.
• Navigate competing priorities, providing clarity, alignment and practical solutions.
• Balance day‑to‑day operational demands with longer‑term strategic focus.

Required profile

• Executive credibility with experience operating in complex, public‑sector environments.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
• Deep expertise in workforce strategy, organisational change and resolving complex people challenges.
• Demonstrated track record of leading and developing high‑performing teams.
• Strong judgement, able to balance competing priorities and make sound decisions.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of shaping clear, compelling narratives.

What we offer

• Total remuneration package (TRP) from $239,251 to $264,197 inclusive of superannuation.
• Flexible working arrangements with options for full‑time or job‑share.
• Location based in Parramatta or regional NSW with support for hybrid work.
