DevOps Engineer (12‑month contract, hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a major government digital transformation programme. The role is a 12‑month contract with a possible extension and offers hybrid working across Queensland, ACT, Victoria, New South Wales or South Australia. You will work closely with technical teams to deliver scalable, user‑focused digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain RESTful APIs.
• Build full‑stack applications using Node.js and a front‑end framework such as React, Vue or Next.js.
• Create and maintain dashboards for performance monitoring and user metrics.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues throughout development and deployment cycles.
• Develop scripts and automation tools to minimise manual effort.
• Integrate applications with GitLab, Jira and Microsoft Teams.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and release processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high‑quality outcomes.

Required profile

• 2–3+ years of full‑stack development experience with Node.js.
• Proficiency in React, Vue or Next.js.
• Strong experience building RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Jira, VS Code and modern DevOps practices.
• Exposure to GitLab CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Experience with monitoring dashboards and performance metrics.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience in government or large‑scale digital delivery is a plus.
