Design Manager – Water Infrastructure

About the role

KBR’s Water business in Melbourne is expanding and seeks an experienced Design/Project Manager to lead multi‑disciplinary water infrastructure projects. You will guide early‑stage detailed designs, manage risk, cost, schedule and quality, and collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver lasting community benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical development of water projects across engineering, environmental, safety and sustainability disciplines.
• Forecast time, cost and quality outcomes, make evidence‑based decisions and manage risks.
• Oversee early‑stage detailed design, ensuring integration of multidisciplinary services.
• Supervise and support a skilled team, fostering growth and well‑being.
• Deliver projects on time, within budget and to quality standards, meeting client satisfaction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical or related).
• Extensive project/design management experience in water infrastructure, including cost, schedule, risk and change management.
• Proven ability to manage large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Project management principles (PMP, PE preferred).
• Technical expertise in water infrastructure design and construction.
• AutoCAD proficiency.
• Familiarity with regulatory approvals and codes.
• QA/QC experience.
