Datacenter Technician

About the role

Sharon AI is seeking a hands‑on Datacenter Technician to join its Operations team in Melbourne. You will support the operational integrity, availability and performance of critical data‑centre infrastructure in a fast‑paced, high‑availability environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain servers, storage and networking equipment in production data‑centre environments.
• Perform structured cabling activities, including installation, termination, testing, labelling and documentation of fibre‑optic and copper systems.
• Monitor infrastructure, respond to alerts, incidents and service requests, and diagnose hardware or connectivity issues.
• Execute equipment deployments, decommissioning, migrations and technology refresh projects with minimal impact.
• Conduct routine inspections of power, cooling, environmental and security systems to ensure compliance.
• Maintain accurate asset registers, rack layouts, cabling documentation and maintenance records.

Required profile

• Demonstrated hands‑on experience in live data‑centre environments.
• Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise server, storage and networking hardware.
• Familiarity with power distribution, UPS, cooling systems and environmental monitoring.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and remain calm during critical incidents.

Required skills

• Structured cabling (fibre‑optic and copper) installation and testing.
• Server, storage and networking hardware troubleshooting.
• Service management platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy or equivalent.
• ITIL principles (Incident, Change, Problem and Service Request Management).
• Basic scripting/automation using PowerShell or Python.
