Data Engineering Lead – Melbourne

About the role

The Data Engineering Lead is a senior, client‑facing position responsible for defining, shaping and leading enterprise data engineering and data platform solutions for Australian Federal Government clients. The role combines presales leadership, modern data platform strategy and trusted advisory engagement with senior public‑sector stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end data engineering solution architecture across presales and delivery phases.
• Lead discovery, fit‑gap and solution‑shaping workshops with Federal Government clients.
• Assess existing data platforms and legacy data landscapes, and define pragmatic modern data platform adoption and transformation road‑maps.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to delivery teams throughout implementation.
• Collaborate with sales and consulting teams to develop compelling proposals and win strategies.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in data engineering, data platform design and implementation.
• Strong client‑facing and presales experience, preferably with public‑sector organisations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills with senior executives.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
