Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a high‑impact technology program focused on delivering scalable data engineering solutions. The role is based in Canberra with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing collaboration on‑site and remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that support ingestion, transformation, and delivery of large‑scale datasets.
• Implement data migration strategies and develop data models to enable efficient analytics.
• Integrate streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache NiFi to support real‑time data flows.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver features quickly and securely.
• Apply DevSecOps practices to ensure data solutions meet security and compliance standards, including government NV1 clearance requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in data engineering.
• Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.
• Proven ability to work effectively in Agile teams and follow DevSecOps principles.

Required skills

• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with Apache Kafka for streaming data.
• Experience with Apache NiFi or comparable data‑flow tools.
• Knowledge of data pipelines, data migration, data modelling, and analytics.
