Data Engineer – Data Migration (Public Sector)

About the role
CGI is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to lead large‑scale data migration initiatives for public‑sector clients, including HR and health EMR transformation projects. The role will be based in Hobart and offers a hybrid work model.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement data migration solutions and data flows for public‑sector programs.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to profile, map, validate and prepare data for migration.
- Identify data dependencies, improve data quality, and support governance, migration and validation activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in workshops, solution planning sessions and cross‑functional team discussions.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive project environment where ideas are valued.
Required profile
- Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
- Proven experience on data migration projects, including data mapping, conversion and cleansing.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in T‑SQL and Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).
- Knowledge of Oracle databases (beneficial).
- ETL expertise, preferably with Microsoft SSIS.
- Familiarity with Power BI or other reporting tools (beneficial).
