Data Centre Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Technician to join a global leader in cloud technology and enterprise software on a 6‑month contract. Based on‑site in Melbourne’s CBD, you will act as the technical liaison between technology teams and the data‑centre environment, providing hands‑on support across servers, storage and networking.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues in a 24/7/365 shift rotation, including on‑call duties.
• Perform racking, stacking, cable management and maintain hot/cold aisle containment.
• Install, monitor, maintain and optimise production servers, storage and networking equipment.
• Create and update documentation for all supported technologies.
• Identify process improvements and introduce automation to simplify operations.
• Execute small projects independently and assist with larger local projects.

Required profile

• 2+ years of hands‑on experience in a data‑centre environment.
• Strong background in Linux and ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent communication skills with internal customers and a focus on urgency and sensitivity.
• Commitment to follow and champion defined processes.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends and on‑call roster.
