Dairy Cattle Farm Operator

About the role

Union Pastoral Co, part of The Midfield Group, is seeking a Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to support day‑to‑day farm management at its Warrnambool facility. You will work on‑site, contributing to high‑quality dairy production and livestock improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains.
• Operate milking plant and equipment safely, record milk vat temperatures, cow numbers and match cow IDs to calves.
• Run the dairy recycling system and perform calf feeding, including tubing colostrum.
• Carry out irrigation work, inspect livestock, and apply chemicals following safety protocols.
• Operate farm vehicles, plant and equipment; identify and report equipment faults.
• Perform maintenance on sheds, fences, and related fittings where qualified.
• Transport stock, feed and equipment when appropriately licensed.
• Maintain accurate records for stock and inventory control and ensure food‑safety regulatory compliance.
• Implement Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements and coordinate emergency responses for health, safety and animal welfare incidents.
• Use computer equipment and software packages for basic operational tasks.

Required profile

• Reliable, physically fit and able to work as part of a team.
• Strong personal hygiene, attention to detail and adherence to procedures.
• Legal right to work in Australia (full‑time, 38 hrs/week).
• Minimum 1 year related experience.
• Certificate II or III in Agriculture preferred (or equivalent).
• Willingness to undergo drug & alcohol testing and pre‑employment medical.
• Q‑Fever vaccination completed or willingness to be vaccinated.
