Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

The Cybersecurity Engineer will join the CA33 IBMS Software Development team, delivering technical cyber security, systems engineering, and accreditation support within Defence environments. This role focuses on vulnerability management, security assurance, and secure engineering lifecycle to maintain resilient, compliant mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability assessments across networks, infrastructure, and applications.
• Perform security risk assessments aligned to ISM, Essential Eight, DISP, ISO27001, and NIST frameworks.
• Develop technical reports and executive‑level security summaries.
• Support cyber incident response and investigation activities.
• Provide advice on emerging cyber threats and mitigation strategies.
• Embed security controls throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Support systems testing, evaluation, and acceptance activities.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement engineering solutions.

Required profile

• Experience in vulnerability management and security assessment.
• Strong background in systems engineering or systems administration.
• Experience working within Defence or government accreditation environments.
• Familiarity with networking, virtualisation, and cloud technologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP, CEH, Security+, INCOSE, TOGAF, or ITIL are highly desirable.
