Cyber Security Specialist / Team Lead (Hybrid, Canberra)

About the role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist / Team Lead to provide technical leadership and strategic direction within a fast‑paced cyber operations environment. Based in Canberra with a hybrid work model, you will oversee a team of analysts, monitor sophisticated threats and drive continuous improvement of our security operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate cyber security analysts and resources.
• Monitor, investigate and respond to security alerts and incidents.
• Develop and enhance detection use cases to identify advanced threats.
• Collaborate with broader cyber security teams to deliver integrated capabilities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of cyber operations and security processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Cyber Security Operations Centre (SOC) or similar environment.
• Strong background in incident response and leading security teams.
• Hands‑on experience with Splunk, Microsoft Defender, Nuix or comparable platforms.
• Knowledge of SIEM technologies, threat detection, threat hunting and incident response practices.
• Deep understanding of cyber security principles, emerging threats and threat‑actor methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
