Cyber Security Specialist – Secure-by-Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to join Insitu Pacific’s uncrewed aerial system team in Australia. The role will apply advanced cyber security principles to ensure our products are engineered securely throughout their lifecycle and meet Commonwealth compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist input to systems engineering and product design, embedding secure‑by‑design principles and ISM/DSPF security controls.
• Conduct verification testing of ISM and DSPF cyber security controls and produce objective quality evidence for V&V.
• Draft and release system security documentation in line with the Commonwealth CSAA framework.
• Support accreditation efforts, liaising with project teams, Commonwealth assessors and remediating POAM items.
• Advise engineering on configuration changes, patching and their impact on system security.
• Identify, assess and mitigate cyber security risks, maintain risk registers and stay current with vendor and ACSC vulnerability alerts.
• Collaborate with end‑users to ensure security design features meet operational needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience applying cyber security practices in a technical environment.
• Strong understanding of security protocols and Commonwealth cyber security standards.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Experience supporting accreditation and compliance documentation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISM (Information Security Manual) and DSPF (Defence Security Policy Framework) controls.
• Familiarity with the Commonwealth CSAA (Cyber Security Assessment and Authorisation) framework.
• Risk assessment and mitigation techniques.
• Verification testing of security controls.
