Cyber Security Engineer – Security Operations Centre

About the role

The Security Operations Centre at ASX is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen our security monitoring, incident response and forensic capabilities. You will work with a diverse team that protects the critical market infrastructure of Australia’s leading securities exchange.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise security tools such as EDR, SIEM, proxy, email gateway, vulnerability scanners, application control and WAF.
• Configure and tune these tools to ensure maximum operational effectiveness.
• Develop new detections and enhance existing controls to address an evolving threat landscape.
• Automate cyber‑security tasks, including artefact collection and threat‑intelligence integration.
• Assist in the response to significant security incidents in collaboration with support teams.
• Manage issues identified during security testing from detection through remediation.
• Prepare management, board and regulatory reports on security posture.
• Support security awareness training for ASX staff.
• Maintain and update security documentation, policies, procedures and metrics.
• Perform data and threat risk assessments and liaise with internal and external assurance functions.

Required profile

Required skills

• Experience with Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) platforms.
• Proficiency in Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
• Knowledge of proxy servers, email security gateways and Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
• Hands‑on experience with vulnerability scanning tools.
• Ability to create and fine‑tune security detections.
• Automation scripting for security tasks and threat‑intelligence integration.
• Incident response and forensic analysis capabilities.
• Familiarity with security testing methodologies, including red‑team and purple‑team exercises.
• Strong documentation skills for policies, procedures and reporting.
• Experience conducting data and threat risk assessments.
