About the role
Our client is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to protect critical electoral systems in Canberra. The role focuses on detecting threats, coordinating incident response, and strengthening the overall security architecture. Candidates must hold Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance and be Australian citizens.
Key responsibilities
- Augment the existing operations team to improve cyber security capabilities.
- Maintain and enhance security monitoring and analysis toolsets.
- Lead the design and implementation of cyber security architecture in consultation with internal teams.
- Work on‑site and be available for shift work during incidents and key electoral events such as roll closures and polling days.
Required profile
- Australian citizenship with Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance and police check.
- Political neutrality and ability to work in a highly sensitive government environment.
- Extensive experience in Windows, Linux, networking and system administration.
Required skills
- Experience with Sentinel or a comparable SIEM solution.
- Knowledge of the Australian Government Information Security Manual.
- Proficiency with endpoint protection, firewalls, IDS/IPS.
- Experience with security services in Azure or AWS.
