Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join a team dedicated to protecting one of Western Australia's most critical healthcare environments. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our cyber capabilities and ensuring the security of our systems and data.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and improve security platforms, including SIEM, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management tools.
• Support and enhance cloud security across AWS and Azure environments.
• Conduct security risk assessments and cloud security reviews for new solutions and projects.
• Drive compliance with the ACSC Essential Eight and the ASD Information Security Manual (ISM).
• Identify vulnerabilities, recommend remediation, and strengthen security controls.
• Provide technical guidance and act as an escalation point for the Cyber Security Analyst team.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, applications, and project teams to embed security throughout the organization.
• Contribute to security governance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in a Cyber Security Engineer, Security Consultant, or Senior Security Analyst role.
• Hands‑on experience with security tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Defender, Rapid7, Tenable, or similar.
• Strong understanding of security governance frameworks, especially the ACSC Essential Eight and ASD ISM.
• Experience securing cloud environments on AWS and/or Azure.
• Analytical and problem‑solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Passion for cyber security and staying ahead of emerging threats.
• Relevant certifications in cloud security or broader cyber disciplines are highly regarded.
