Cyber Security Engineer – Brisbane (Permanent)

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join a large, complex organisation’s security team in Brisbane. This permanent, hands‑on position will own and mature a portfolio of security capabilities across vulnerability, exposure, attack surface, DLP, CASB and data security posture management, while supporting security operations and incident response.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and mature security controls across cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Own end‑to‑end vulnerability and exposure management, from scanning to remediation tracking.
• Collaborate with a managed SOC to drive detection, triage and response.
• Evaluate and deploy new security technologies.
• Coordinate penetration testing activities.
• Support the broader Cyber Resilience Program.

Required profile

• 3–8 years of hands‑on cyber security engineering or specialist experience.
• Proven experience building and operating security capabilities, not just monitoring.
• Hands‑on exposure to at least two of: vulnerability management, exposure management, attack surface management, DLP, CASB or DSPM.
• Strong knowledge of SIEM platforms, EDR and cloud security controls.
• Background in healthcare, critical infrastructure or other regulated industry (preferred).
• Relevant certifications such as SSCP, CISSP, BTL1, CEH or similar (a plus).
