Cultural Capability & Connections Officer - Bundaberg

About the role

IMPACT Community Services Limited, a community-owned organisation supporting vulnerable and marginalised people since 1978, is seeking a Cultural Capability and Connections Officer for its Community and Cultural Connections Unit in Bundaberg. This is a full-time, fixed-term role until 30 June 2027, supporting culturally safe and responsive services for First Nations participants, families and communities across the Positive Start Parenting and Family Mental Health Support Service programs on Taribelang Bunda, Gooreng Gooreng, Gurang and Bailai Country.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with First Nations participants, families, communities and organisations
• Engage with First Nations participants to understand their experiences, needs and priorities
• Develop and maintain networks with community organisations, stakeholders and service providers
• Contribute to service improvement by identifying emerging needs, opportunities and participant feedback
• Support development of referral pathways and community connections
• Assist with community engagement activities and events

Required profile

• Experience in community services, child and family services, mental health services or related sectors (highly desirable)
• An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; this is an identified position
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with First Nations people, families and communities
• Knowledge of First Nations communities and services in the Bundaberg region

Required skills

• Understanding of cultural safety, cultural capability and culturally responsive practice
• Effective communication with a wide range of people and stakeholders
