About the role

The Director of Public Prosecutions in the Northern Territory is seeking an experienced criminal lawyer to join its team as a Crown Prosecutor. You will provide expert legal advice on complex prosecutions and represent the prosecution in all courts of the NT and the High Court of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on complex criminal prosecutions.
• Represent the prosecution in jury trials, complex summary prosecutions, appeals and related matters before NT courts and the High Court.
• Advise on procedural and substantive criminal law issues.
• Collaborate with senior legal staff to shape prosecution strategy.

Required profile

• Admitted or eligible for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court of Australia or a State/Territory Supreme Court.
• Demonstrated experience in jury trial and/or appellate advocacy.
• Extensive knowledge of criminal law.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical abilities.

Required skills

• Legal advocacy and courtroom representation.
• Trial experience in criminal matters.
• In‑depth criminal law expertise.

• Competitive salary of $132,408 – $147,919 per year (inclusive of superannuation).
