Croatian-Speaking Volunteer Companion

About the role

HammondCare Waratah Residential Care is looking for a warm and caring person who speaks Croatian to offer conversation and companionship to an elderly resident. Visits last one hour each week or fortnight and bring comfort, connection and a sense of familiarity through shared language and friendly conversation.

HammondCare is an independent Christian charity that provides the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, funded by the Australian Government, which promotes links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the resident for one hour, once a week or every two weeks, depending on availability.
• Offer conversation and companionship in Croatian.
• Bring comfort, connection and a sense of familiarity through friendly chat.

Required profile

• 18 years or older.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
• Availability for a one-hour visit between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday; visits can be weekly or fortnightly.
