Country Manager – Sydney

About the role

POLITICO is seeking an entrepreneurial Country Manager to launch and grow its presence in Australia. Based in Sydney, you will act as the senior commercial and sales representative, shaping strategy, building partnerships and driving revenue across the Australian and Indo‑Pacific markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead POLITICO’s commercial strategy and operations in Australia, identifying growth opportunities and ensuring the Australian perspective informs global priorities.
• Deliver financial targets through annual planning, budgeting, forecasting and regular performance reporting.
• Serve as the primary enterprise seller, managing strategic sales, cultivating key customers and expanding subscription revenue.
• Build senior stakeholder relationships, secure strategic partnerships and represent POLITICO at high‑level events.
• Collaborate with editorial, product, marketing and commercial teams to execute the growth strategy and recruit a high‑performing local team.

Required profile

• Entrepreneurial leader with a proven ability to build businesses from scratch and operate autonomously.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in business leadership, commercial strategy, market expansion or business development, preferably in media, information services, B2B subscriptions, SaaS or policy intelligence.
• Deep knowledge of Australia’s political, regulatory and corporate affairs landscape and credibility with senior government and industry leaders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience working in matrixed, international organisations.

Required skills

• Strong commercial acumen and track record of launching products and growing revenue through enterprise partnerships and subscription models.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans and manage key customer relationships.
