Country Manager

About the role

The Country Manager will lead the company’s Australian operations, driving commercial growth, establishing a local presence, and ensuring full regulatory and business compliance. Reporting to senior leadership, the role is accountable for revenue, profitability, market access and building a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Australia growth strategy aligned with corporate objectives, identifying market opportunities and competitive dynamics.
• Build and nurture relationships with healthcare institutions, distributors, industry bodies and key stakeholders.
• Deliver annual sales, market share and profitability targets, expanding direct hospital business and managing tender participation.
• Lead strategic account planning, evaluate new business and partnership opportunities, and drive product launches including complex generics and specialty products.
• Partner with regulatory teams to secure product registrations, market authorisations and ensure pharmacovigilance compliance.
• Own the country P&L, prepare budgets, forecasts and monitor revenue, margins and operating costs.
• Oversee local regulatory, legal and governance requirements, acting as the company’s responsible representative.
• Recruit, lead and develop a high‑performing local team, fostering a culture of accountability and customer focus.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business or related field; MBA preferred.
• 12‑15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry with significant exposure to the Australian market.
• Proven track record in country management, business development, sales leadership and P&L responsibility.
• Deep understanding of Australian healthcare systems, hospital business, tender processes and regulatory environment.
• Experience in portfolio strategy, product launches and market expansion.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation and communication abilities.
