Corporate Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, an Australian‑owned legal services firm experiencing rapid growth, is seeking a hands‑on Corporate Financial Controller. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the Executive Leadership team, you will shape the financial strategy and support business initiatives that drive future expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Implement finance strategy, planning, forecasting, compliance and reporting across the organisation.
• Deliver real‑time insights and productivity metrics to inform decision‑making.
• Ensure divisional budgets and overall firm targets are achieved.
• Manage financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems, including BAS, ASIC and banking requirements.
• Develop and review the operating budget across all expenditure platforms.
• Build finance team culture, capability and performance.
• Oversee trust management and audit reviews to satisfy Law Society of NSW and LawCover standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the legal industry.
• Degree in Finance or Accounting with a CA or CPA qualification.
• 5‑10 years of experience as a Finance Controller, strong technical foundation in FP&A, reporting, compliance and governance.
• Clear, confident communicator with strong practice partner engagement.
• Pragmatic, honest and collaborative leadership style.
