About the role
A client in Northwest Queensland is looking for a field assistant with core processing experience to process core samples at a site near Cloncurry. The position starts as soon as possible, lasts six months and follows an 8/6 roster of 12-hour days. Applicants must be able to pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test and commit to a minimum of six months.
Key responsibilities
- Orientation and mark-up of core blocks, identifying orientation inconsistencies
- Secondary core processing: specific gravity measurement (SGS), point load and data collection, RQD
- Core photography using IMAGO or a similar programme
- Core cutting and sampling: reading cut sheets, sampling to specific intervals, bag prep and despatch of samples
- Data entry
Required profile
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised
- Willingness to live in a mine village with accommodation provided
- FI/FO eligibility (Townsville or Cairns)
Required skills
- Understanding of Excel and PowerPoint
- Core processing and sampling
