Control Systems Support Engineer

About the role

Join Dematic, a global leader in intelligent automation, as a Control Systems Support Engineer in Notting Hill, Melbourne. You will provide second‑level technical support, on‑call assistance, and engineering expertise for sophisticated automated material handling systems.

Key responsibilities

• Provide second‑level technical support to the maintenance team and participate in the on‑call roster.
• Perform system diagnostics, prepare reports, and develop functional specifications.
• Program PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), configure SCADA systems (ICONICS, CITEC, WINCC), and set up HMI, scanners, roller drive‑cards and VSDs.
• Test, commission, and document systems on‑site, including preparation of test plans and operator manuals.
• Train client personnel, support customers, and assist with interstate or overseas projects as required.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in engineering, scientific discipline or an electrical trade with tertiary qualifications.
• Electrical trades licence highly regarded.
• Ability to work independently, guide teams and travel interstate, regional or overseas.
• Australian permanent residency or citizenship.

Required skills

• PLC configuration, programming and commissioning (Siemens S7).
• SCADA applications: ICONICS, CITEC, WINCC.
• Knowledge of material handling system controls (conveyors, sortation).
• Experience with HMI, scanners, roller drive‑cards and VSDs.
