Contracts Specialist

About the role

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Contracts Specialist to join its Capital Sustaining Projects team in Perth. The role will support end‑to‑end contract and procurement activities, ensuring capital projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget while meeting governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for construction works, services, equipment and materials.
• Manage sourcing activities in line with Fortescue’s procurement policies and project controls.
• Negotiate commercial terms and pricing to support project schedules and budgets.
• Prepare clear procurement and contract documentation and administer contracts throughout delivery, including correspondence, notices and close‑out.
• Assess payment claims, variations and extensions of time, identifying commercial risks.
• Collaborate with technical, legal and project teams to devise risk‑mitigation solutions.
• Maintain contract records, produce compliance reports and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in contract administration within mining, civil construction, SMP or EIC projects.
• Proven track record managing tendering processes and supporting contract execution across the project lifecycle.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to assess payment claims, variations and contractual risks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across engineering, legal, quality, logistics and project controls.
• Proactive, independent work style with a commitment to safety and Fortescue’s values.
• Bachelor’s degree (field not specified).
