Contract Specialist - Major Projects

About the role

Cleanaway Waste Management, which turns waste into resources and renewable energy, is hiring a Contract Specialist for its Engineering and Technical team in Dandenong South. Working with project managers, engineers and corporate teams, you will give hands-on commercial and contract management support across a range of engineering and infrastructure projects, with exposure to tendering, supplier performance and complex contractual matters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and manage end-to-end tenders for project packages under $1 million, working with Procurement
• Develop clear scopes and statements of work for contractors with engineers and project teams
• Review tender submissions, evaluate commercial terms and support contractor selection
• Manage contract administration, variations, extension-of-time requests, claims and dispute resolution
• Monitor contractor performance and support compliance with contract terms and deliverables
• Contribute to supplier panels, contracting strategies and decisions on lump-sum or schedule-of-rates arrangements
• Work with Legal, Finance, HSE and project delivery teams to manage commercial risk and improve supplier management

Required profile

• Approximately five to eight years or more of contracts or commercial management experience in project environments
• Demonstrated experience preparing tenders, evaluating submissions and supporting statements of work
• Experience in infrastructure, construction, oil and gas or comparable engineering project environments
• Relevant qualification in commercial, engineering, legal or project management; legal experience is advantageous

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of contract administration, variations, claims, extensions of time and dispute resolution
• Negotiation skills and sound commercial judgement
• Attention to detail, prioritisation, stakeholder management and communication
