Contract Management Officer

About the role

The Contract Management Officer will support the administration and management of the contract between ASA and the Australian shipbuilder for the SSN AUKUS submarine program. Working in a high‑value, early‑stage environment, you will help ensure contractual rights and obligations are clearly understood and aligned with program objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Administer the head contract with the Australian shipbuilder, ensuring rights, obligations and processes are applied.
• Analyse and interpret complex contract documentation, including key clauses and mechanisms.
• Draft and coordinate formal contractual correspondence such as notices, responses and clarifications.
• Provide clear advice on contractual interpretation, risks and implications.
• Develop coordinated contractual positions with legal, technical, commercial and program stakeholders.
• Assist in managing contractual issues, variations, queries and emerging risks.
• Maintain contract records, registers and documentation to meet governance and audit requirements.
• Track contract variations, claims and deliverables.
• Identify contractual risks and support mitigation strategies.
• Build effective relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management processes and templates.

Required profile

• Strong contract management and legal interpretation abilities.
• Experience working with complex, high‑value contracts in a government or defence context.
• Ability to collaborate with technical, legal, commercial and program teams.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
