Content Director & Announcer for Star 102.7 & 4CA

About the role

ARN is seeking a Content Director & Announcer to lead the sound and content strategy for Star 102.7 and 846 4CA in Cairns. You will own both strategic planning and day‑to‑day execution, driving audience growth across broadcast and digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead content strategy for both stations, ensuring format integrity and brand consistency.
• Deliver live and automated on‑air shifts that engage and entertain listeners.
• Create entertainment‑led talk breaks, segments and local content tailored to each audience.
• Coach and develop on‑air talent, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Collaborate with content, promotions, sales and digital teams to maximise audience and commercial impact.
• Extend on‑air content to social and digital platforms for greater reach and shareability.
• Represent the brands at events, promotions and community activities.
• Maintain operational excellence, including logs, form‑guiding and quality control of station sound.
• Ensure compliance with ACMA regulations and ARN content standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading content or programming in radio, media or entertainment.
• Strong on‑air capability with a track record of delivering engaging audio.
• Deep understanding of audience engagement, ratings performance and brand‑led content.
• Confident communicator able to coach talent and work across teams.
• Passion for music, entertainment and storytelling, with awareness of audience trends.
• Comfortable representing brands publicly and connecting with the local community.

Required skills

• Experience with playout systems such as Zetta or G‑Selector.
• Proficiency with audio editing tools.
