Consultant or Senior Consultant - Electricity Market Modelling

About the role

EY-Parthenon is hiring several Consultants and Senior Consultants for its electricity market modelling team in Brisbane and Sydney. The role is hybrid and sits within EY-ROAM, a provider of electricity market modelling services in Australia and New Zealand that simulates electricity markets and power systems to forecast outcomes under different future scenarios, using a physics-first approach centred on the transmission network.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in executing and delivering a broad range of market modelling projects
• Provide clients with evidence-based insights that support informed decision-making
• Some roles will be transaction-focused
• Use the time between client engagements to pursue learning and development

Required profile

• Tertiary education in engineering, mathematics, economics, physics or computer science
• Ability to work independently
• High numeracy and willingness to analyse large data sets and deal with ambiguities in the data
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn, the fundamentals of electricity markets and the challenges of decarbonisation
• Experience in energy transactions (preparing, supporting or evaluating bids) is highly valued

Required skills

• High computer literacy; the team uses Excel, Python, SQL and Microsoft VBA to interface with custom simulation software, with time and training provided to learn a new programming language
• Data visualisation skills for analysis and presentation
• Strong communication skills to convey insights to clients and colleagues
