Consultant or Senior Consultant - Business Valuations

About the role

EY-Parthenon is hiring a Consultant or Senior Consultant for its Valuation Modelling and Economics (VME) team in Sydney. You will advise clients on preserving, optimising, raising or investing capital, supporting valuation matters for transactions, portfolio assessment and optimisation, restructuring and strategic planning. The role is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Work in project teams to value businesses, equity interests, financial instruments and intangible assets for pre- and post-transaction advice, tax purposes, financial reporting (purchase price allocations, impairment testing, employee share schemes) and disputes.
• Prepare valuation models and reports, including analysis of value drivers and commercial rationale, industry analysis and market benchmarking, cost of capital analysis, and detailed financial models with scenarios.
• Identify issues and propose strategies for the advice given.
• Train and support junior team members in technical and interpersonal skills.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and about 2 to 4 years of related work experience.
• Degree in finance, economics, accounting or business, with aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Experience using valuation techniques such as cost of capital analysis, market comparables and discounted cash flow.
• Experience in financial modelling in MS Excel and related software preferred; experience valuing for accounting or tax planning desired.
• Analytical, communication, organisational and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach and a willingness to learn.
