Construction Lawyer – Queensland

About the role

A top-tier commercial law firm is recruiting a construction lawyer for its Construction, Infrastructure and Projects team in Queensland, which handles some of the state's most significant construction matters. The role covers large-scale projects across transport, social infrastructure, residential, renewables, commercial and industrial sectors, with clients such as government, developers, global engineering companies and major head contractors. The team is large and specialist, offering mentoring and training from senior practitioners and peers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage disputes during and after project delivery, including adjudications and expert determinations
• Act in high-value, complex litigation and arbitration
• Prepare advice, evidence and submissions
• Run litigated matters day to day, including briefing Counsel and technical experts
• Supervise junior lawyers and paralegals depending on experience

Required profile

• 4+ years' PAE (Associate to Senior Associate level)
• Project delivery or back-end construction/infrastructure experience is ideal
• Strong litigators with solid civil procedure skills, especially from mining, resources or energy, are also considered
• Ability to analyse and solve complex legal problems, with excellent technical skills and attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills, meeting deadlines in a fast-moving environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptable communication and a collaborative approach
• Sound judgement with confidential information and an interest in mentoring juniors
